Welcome to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Vicksburg, Mississippi

We are the oldest Antiochian Orthodox Church in Mississippi, having been established in 1906.  Worldwide, the Orthodox Church is the second largest of all Christian denominations, with over 300 million followers.  Our faith can be traced back to its beginnings during the days of Christ, and has remained unchanged throughout history.  Our parish consists of various ethnic backgrounds and a considerable number of our members are converts to Orthodoxy.  We are a small, warm church community of dedicated Christians, made up of people who care for each other and enjoy working alongside each other on various activities throughout the year.

We invite you to explore St. George through this web site and, more importantly, by actually visiting Divine Liturgy and other services to discover the Faith once delivered by Christ and His Apostles.  Come to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where we will always welcome you.

Special Notes:

The 2018 Vicksburg Fall Pilgrimage Tour will include visits to St. George.  Our church will be visited on Fridays, September 21st, September 28th, and October 5th, at 3:00PM, each visit.  This is a great opportunity for the local community to become more acquainted with our church and Orthodoxy.

The Women of St. George met on Friday, June 15th, at the home of Frances Thomas.  Refreshments and time spent together in a discussion, led by Pam Smith, of the history of the Lebanese Dinner were enjoyed by all.

On February 27th, the Men's Club hosted a presentation by John Elfer, Director of Warren County Emergency Management.  His information was very informative and timely and we look forward to seeing John in the future.

The Men's Club meeting of September 26 featured Donna Hardy, our parishioner, who is the Warren County Chancery Clerk, as guest speaker.  The meeting was well-attended and very informative, highlighting several topics of importance to us.  Our thanks to Donna for an excellent presentation.

On May 13th, the women of the parish were invited by Kh. Rena to her and Fr. Amin's home.  Everyone enjoyed the wonderful food prepared by Kh. Rena and other women, and, more importantly, enjoyed the friendship of one another!  As promised, it was a fun event!

Once again, the Lebanese Dinner was a success, as it has been for over fifty years.  It is truly a remarkable event, greatly anticipated every year by the community.  Thanks to all who have helped!

Continue to pray for Fr. John's and Kh. Cheryl's full recovery.  If you can help them in any way, please contact them at their home.
